Kara's programmes are based on and inspired by the teachings of Maria Montessori - first educate the senses, then educate the intellect - combined with the internationally acclaimed preschool model developed at Reggio Emilia - an effective curriculum needs to be child originated and teacher framed - adapted over 5 years of research to meet the needs of the Indian context. By utilizing a wide range a teaching methodologies and resources in the classroom, Kara can effectively meet the needs of each child irrespective of his/her learning style, by designing a range of structured and free-flowing learning activities and experiences into theme-based units. |

After working with young children for many years, experience has shown that each child has his/her own little idiosyncrasies when it comes to potty training. As a consequence Kara works closely with parents and accepts children who are still wearing nappies. Children are taken to the bathroom every 45 or 60 minutes according to age, and every 30 minutes if they have started training. Disposable diapers only are accepted. All members of staff are extremely aware that little accidents will happen - even with older children - hence the request to keep 3 changes of clothes in school. A trained childminder is always available to help those who need assistance. |
